Each March, NCAA Division I basketball teams battle it out to claim the title of Champion. The madness that ensues, commonly referred to as March Madness, is so exciting to watch that millions fill out brackets and follow the action on every possible media. People are “sick” on the first 2 days of the tournament so they can watch hours of basketball. People spend hundreds of dollars on travel and ticket packages to cheer their teams on in person. Here at Wibki, we decided to rise to the challenge and put together everything you need to know about March Madness 2014.
March Madness 2014 Game Schedule
To find the March Madness schedule and bracket, head over to ESPN. It is easy to read the dates, location of the games, and times, and using a bracket is the easiest way to keep track of who is playing who and when. The bracket will also be updated in real time with scores and winners. When you click on the game time, it will tell you which network the game is airing on. Mind though, that the game times are all listed in Eastern Standard Time. Play-in games start Tuesday, March 18th with 2 games on Tuesday and 2 on Wednesday, and the second round (16 games!) starts Thursday, March 20.
How to Buy Tickets for March Madness 2014?
Whether you are a fan of a specific team or college basketball in general, attending the Tournament is an exciting experience. When you buy tickets for March Madness, you buy for “sessions”. For the first weekend, each session is 2 games. It is also possible to buy a “strip” of all of the sessions at that location. Sites like Stubhub and Ticketmaster have tickets for sale, as do some lesser known ticket sites such as Ticketcity and Vividseats. The tickets probably won’t be cheap, but keep in mind that the tickets often get you into more than one game. Maybe you want to travel with your team and buy tickets to each city they may be in. Maybe you want to discover a new city while catching the top teams in the country, or maybe you want to stay close to home. Whatever you decide, attending the Tournament is an awesome experience.
How to Win Your March Madness 2014 Pool
Every year, millions of people fill out brackets to win money, for bragging rights, or just for fun. Some people have a vast knowledge of the game and haven’t missed a single game all year, while other people have never seen a basketball game and only fill out the March Madness bracket to feel included. This year, Warren Buffet and Cleveland Cavaliers’ owner Dan Gilbert have promised a billion dollars to the person who fills out a perfect bracket. So how do you do it? Forbes, teamrankings and many other websites are giving great tips for people looking to win or just have fun, but the truth is, it is called March Madness for a reason. People who have studied the game have just as good of a chance as people who pick solely on team colors, prettiest cheerleaders, or team rank. That’s what makes it madness, that’s what makes it fun (or frustrating)! Don’t have a pool? Fill a bracket out anyway on sites like CBSSports.com, Yahoo.com and ESPN.com. Their Tournament Challenges allow you to create a bracket and compete against everyone else on the site for cool prizes, and they are free!
How to Watch
All of the games are aired on TNT, TruTV, TBS and CBS. NCAA’s website has a “channel finder” tool where you plug in your location, cable provider, and whether you are watching in SD or HD, and it will provide you with channel numbers for each network. Are you one of the unlucky people who can’t arrange their schedule to watch all 32 games on Thursday and Friday of the first weekend? Thankfully watching the games of your choice is never more than a click away. The NCAA March Madness Live app will let you stream games, you can watch the tournament on ESPNplayer.com with a $30 monthly subscription, TuneIn Radio is a radio app for your smart phone or tablet, and there are countless other apps available for score updates. Check out these articles by Huffington Post and ABCNews for more suggestions for following the action when you can’t be in front of a TV. I follow March Madness religiously every year and have compiled a tab on my Wibki with all of the websites mentioned above, as well as a few articles and websites that I follow to find up-to-date information and news during the March Madness.
Good luck to your teams and good luck to you on your brackets!
